The National Weather Service is following an active afternoon, with plenty of showers and thunderstorms developing in the Finger Lakes and Western New York.
Those storms are expected to move across the region – as hot, humid air acts as fuel for thunderstorm development.

Some of the storms could produce small hail, strong winds, or heavy rains. Ponding on area roadways is the biggest threat with these storms as they develop.
The greatest risk will be before 8 p.m. By evening, the storms should have moved east, or dissipated to merely showers.
