If you have followed Section V lacrosse for the last two-plus decades, this won’t come as a shocker. Penn Yan won yet another championship Wednesday night, its 21st title in 22 years, the last three coming in Class D.
But here’s where the story diverges a bit. This time, the Mustangs were on the brink of defeat, pushed beyond the limit and into overtime by Pal-Mac before Colton Smith delivered the game-winning goal with 5.6 seconds left in overtime for a pulsating 10-9 victory.
