Officials with the Department of Environmental Conservation have provided new details about an incident where a hiker had to be rescued from Clark’s Gully in Naples.
Two men from Greece were participating in geocaching activities when one lost his footing.
When it happened, he slid into the gully and was unable to get himself out due to icy conditions.
DEC Forest Rangers, deputies, Naples Fire personnel, and the Ontario County High Angle Rope Rescue Team responded to the scene.
Rescuers used a rope and safety system that allowed the man to be lifted out of the icy gully.
Neither hikers required medical attention.
