An Auburn man is facing three felony charges after assaulting his girlfriend, police reported Tuesday.
The Auburn Police Department said David L. Cuatt, 26, and his girlfriend got into an argument about family issues at his 28 Lansing St., Apt. 4, residence Sunday night.
Cuatt allegedly pushed the 29-year-old woman to the floor, punched her in the face and then strangled her until she lost consciousness. Police said the physical confrontation continued when the victim regained consciousness and Cuatt again grabbed her throat and pushed her to the ground. The woman went unconscious for a second time.
When she came to, police said the victim found herself in a locked room. After what appeared to be a short period of time, police said Cuatt unlocked the door. The woman was able to escape and she ran to Auburn Community Hospital where she then called the police around 12:15 a.m. Monday.
