Singer Charlie High will bring a tribute to Judy Garland’s landmark Carnegie Hall concert to Ithaca’s Hangar Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

“Charlie Sings Judy (The Carnegie Hall Concert),” part of the theater’s In Flight Entertainment Series, pairs High with music director and pianist Drew Wutke. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and artists, available in advance through the Hangar Theatre’s website or at the door.

The show reimagines Garland’s 1961 performance with a streamlined selection of songs, according to the theater. High said his goal is to celebrate Garland’s work rather than imitate her.

“Judy has always been a part of my artistic life. I don’t want to imitate her or try to be her; I want to celebrate her,” High said in the announcement. “This show has given me a way to share that love with other people.”

The performance also marks a return to the Hangar for High, who joined its Lab Company the summer after his freshman year of college. His work there included the mainstage production of “The Rocky Horror Show” and the Kiddstuff production of “Goodnight Moon.”

“I’ve wanted to return to the Hangar ever since, so coming back all these years later feels especially meaningful!” he said.

High has performed in national tours of “The Producers” and Lincoln Center Theater’s “My Fair Lady,” as well as with symphony orchestras in Utah, Milwaukee, the Pacific region and North Carolina. He has previously presented “Charlie Sings Judy” at New York City’s Laurie Beechman Theatre and The Green Room 42.

Wutke’s music direction and piano work spans Broadway, off-Broadway, regional theater and touring productions, according to the announcement.

The Hangar Theatre is at 801 Taughannock Blvd. in Ithaca.
