Two free screenings of All Too Clear: Beneath the Surface of the Great Lakes will bring filmmakers Zach Melnick and Yvonne Drebert to Wolcott and SUNY Oswego in November to discuss their underwater documentary and answer audience questions.
The Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary is hosting the events in partnership with SUNY Oswego’s Great Lakes Institute and Inspired Planet Productions.
The first screening is Nov. 17 at The Palace Theater in Wolcott. The second is Nov. 19 at SUNY Oswego in Oswego. Both begin at 6 p.m.
The events are open to the public, and no registration is required. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Melnick and Drebert will attend both screenings to share the story behind the film and take questions from the audience.
An underwater look at the Great Lakes
All Too Clear uses underwater drones to examine how invasive quagga mussels are reshaping the Great Lakes ecosystem. The film combines scientific exploration with a look at the lakes’ freshwater wildlife and underwater environments.
The husband-and-wife filmmaking team spent more than 150 days filming underwater, according to the sanctuary’s announcement.
Questions about the screenings can be directed to Stephanie Gandulla, the sanctuary’s superintendent, at 989-312-3579.
