Mozaic has received $50,482 in grants to support guardianship services and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities in the Finger Lakes.
The funding comes from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services, the nonprofit announced October 29. Mozaic supports more than 2,000 people across Seneca, Cayuga, Yates and Tompkins counties.
The award includes $31,750 for guardianship services and $18,732 for recreation. It is part of $2.7 million NYSARC Trust Services is awarding to Arc New York chapters statewide in 2026, according to the release.
Guardianship services and advocates
The guardianship grant will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate, Mozaic said.
Chapter staff and community volunteers support the program, which currently serves five people. Mozaic is also prepared to assist three more as a standby or alternate standby guardian.
Recreation and community connections
Mozaic plans to use its recreation funding for opportunities that encourage community participation, social connections and meaningful experiences.
The organization said those activities will help the people it supports remain active and engaged in their communities. The release did not identify individual outings or a schedule of activities.
Mozaic's broader services include day and community-based programs, employment services, clinical services, respite and other supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other barriers.
NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs and pooled trusts intended to help people with disabilities preserve eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested benefits while supporting their needs. It has administered supplemental needs trusts since 1972.
