Goodwill of the Finger Lakes will open its relocated Henrietta store Nov. 6 in the former Value City Furniture space, creating the organization's largest store in the region.
The store will move from 376 Jefferson Road to 1000 Hylan Drive, Suite 206, according to a news release from Goodwill of the Finger Lakes.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. that Friday, after an 8:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony with community leaders. The first 100 shoppers in line will receive $10 gift cards, limited to one per customer older than 16.
Donations begin before the store opens
The new location will begin accepting donations Oct. 30, with hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the grand opening. Donation hours will expand to match regular store hours Nov. 6.
Once open, the store will operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Preparations to transfer retail operations to the Hylan Drive space are underway.
The building will have 31,000 square feet of retail space and more than 15,000 square feet of back-of-store space for processing donations. Merchandise will include donated apparel and household items, seasonal merchandise and new goods.
Jennifer Lake, Goodwill's president and CEO, said the larger location will expand shopping and donation services and create employment opportunities as the organization adds staff to support it.
Purchases support community programs
Goodwill said in-store purchases support programs including the Goodwill Learning Academy, Goodwill Vision Services, 211/LIFE LINE, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and the Good Neighbor Program.
The Rochester-based charitable organization uses retail revenue to help support its services, workforce development and job opportunities for people facing barriers to employment. It says its programs reach more than 179,000 people annually and that it has more than 850 staff members.
