ReUse Systems is hiring two managers in Geneva as it brings its office and warehouse operations together in a new space.
The nonprofit's website lists a full-time operations manager position with a starting salary of $70,000 and a half-time deconstruction manager position paying $35,000 to $38,000, both with benefits.
The office has moved to the Geneva Enterprise Development Center building at 122 N. Genesee St., according to an Oct. 26 news release. ReUse Systems said combining the spaces will help it develop its capacity to recover usable materials and keep them out of landfills.
Operations manager will oversee programs and grants
The operations manager will handle day-to-day management, help develop the organization's reuse center and coordinate staff, volunteers, contractors and community partners.
The full job posting calls for establishing systems for scheduling, purchasing, materials acquisition, inventory, records and communications. The manager will help maintain a safe work environment, participate in budgeting and track operating and program expenses with the board of directors.
The position also includes managing recently awarded grants: timelines, budgets, reporting, documentation, deliverables and coordination with funders and project partners. Duties include tracking materials recovered, landfill diversion and program outcomes, coordinating workshops and repair and reuse activities, and helping with future grant applications.
The manager will provide day-to-day staff and volunteer coordination, work with the deconstruction manager, supervise an AmeriCorps VISTA worker on assigned projects, and help recruit and train additional staff and volunteers. Fundraising support includes identifying grants and sponsorships, assisting with applications and donor outreach, developing community relationships and identifying earned-income opportunities.
The board will retain responsibility for governance, strategy and oversight, while the manager handles daily implementation and reports on operations, finances, programs and grant work.
Candidates should have experience managing operations, programs or projects and grants or contracts, including budgets, deadlines and reporting. The posting also seeks strong communication and organizational skills, experience with staff, volunteers and partners, comfort with spreadsheets and financial tracking, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
A bachelor's degree is preferred, but relevant professional experience may substitute. Experience in fundraising, grant writing, retail, warehouses or nonprofits is a plus, along with an interest in reuse, sustainability and landfill diversion.
Applicants for the operations position should send a resume and brief cover letter explaining their interest to jobs@reusesystemsinc.org. Applications will be reviewed as received, and early applications are encouraged.
Deconstruction manager will recover building materials
The half-time deconstruction manager will focus on recovering reusable building materials from structures slated for renovation or demolition, preserving materials that might otherwise be discarded.
ReUse Systems said the two positions will help it expand reuse opportunities, community partnerships and programs. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit works on waste reduction, reuse, repair, deconstruction and resource sharing in Geneva, Ontario County and the greater Finger Lakes region.
Details on both openings and how to apply are available at reusesystemsinc.org.
