Two Buffalo men detained on federal gun trafficking charges

Two Buffalo men were arrested and ordered detained on a federal criminal complaint charging them with conspiring to traffic firearms.

Dut Dour, 34, and Tommy Purdue, 28, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Roemer, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office release. The charge carries up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if they are convicted.

The complaint describes an FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigation that began in May 2025 into a gun trafficking group operating in the Western District of New York.

Investigators conducted a controlled firearm purchase from Dour on Aug. 15, 2025, with Purdue also present, according to the complaint.

Another controlled purchase from Dour involved two firearms on Feb. 27, 2026. Investigators made additional controlled purchases April 14 and April 29. The four purchases involved four handguns and a rifle.

Authorities reviewed Purdue's social media accounts and his communications with Dour. Prosecutors said photographs and videos showed Purdue with handguns and long rifles, with firearm advertising dating to November 2024.

The complaint also describes Dour's possession of more than one cellphone. Prosecutors said members of trafficking groups frequently use a separate phone to communicate about illegal activity while trying to avoid detection.

The FBI and ATF investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney MacCaelin Sedita is prosecuting the case.
