A Newark plumbing and heating company is accepting nominations for its annual Veteran Furnace Giveaway, an initiative aimed at helping a Finger Lakes veteran stay warm this winter.
Lagana Plumbing & Heating has launched its fifth annual giveaway as Veterans Day approaches, offering a new furnace to a local veteran in recognition of their military service.
“We’ve always believed that running a business means more than just serving customers — it means serving your community,” owner Mitch Ruffalo said. “Making sure a veteran doesn’t have to worry about heat this winter is one tangible way we can make a meaningful impact to a group that is more than deserving.”
The company has provided new furnaces to five veteran families over the past four years, including two recipients in 2025.
Business Manager Joe Ruffalo said the giveaway has become one of the company’s most meaningful annual traditions.
“We always look forward to this time of year and getting to hear our veterans’ stories and meet their families,” he said. “It truly is a humbling experience and we are deeply grateful for the impact they have. A new furnace is a small way for us to say thank you.”
Residents can nominate themselves or a veteran they know through the company’s website. Nominations must be submitted by Nov. 20.
The nomination form is available at Lagana Plumbing & Heating’s Veteran Furnace Giveaway page.
