The Yates County Sheriff’s Office has added a bloodhound named Hobie to its K9 team and appointed Deputy Kevin Crofoot as his handler.
Hobie, the agency’s first bloodhound in many years, will be assigned to the Road Patrol Division with a primary focus on trailing and tracking, the sheriff’s office said.
Crofoot and Hobie have begun training to meet New York state and nationally recognized K9 handling standards. They have not yet been certified as a team.
Community donations fully funded Hobie’s purchase, according to the sheriff’s office.
