Geneva holiday aid program takes applications Nov. 2-20

The Geneva Center of Concern will accept applications Nov. 2-20 for Operation Merry Christmas, which provides holiday food and gifts to Geneva residents in need.

Applications for food and gifts will be taken at the center's thrift store at 58 Avenue D from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. Applicants must bring proof of a Geneva address, household income and family members, according to the center's news release.

The center said it has provided a complete holiday meal to residents through the program since 1972. Children from birth through age 18 can receive age-appropriate gifts.

The assistance also includes family games and books, hats and mittens, and personal-care items.

The center is seeking donations of new, unwrapped gifts; turkeys and hams; and assorted holiday food for the boxes.
