Walworth approves Daansen Road subdivision ahead of tonight’s budget session

Walworth's Planning Board approved a Daansen Road subdivision application Tuesday night after a resident questioned the review process, while the Town Board is scheduled to return tonight for a separate work session on the 2027 budget.

The planning application from Jerome Tamburrino concerns properties at about 3461 and 3445 Daansen Road, according to the Planning Board agenda. Tonight's budget session begins at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 3600 Lorraine Drive, and is open to the public.

Planning Board approves subdivision after public questions

The application was the only land-use item listed for the Oct. 13 Planning Board meeting. The properties are zoned R-District, and the hearing notice described a boundary-line adjustment between two lots, followed by subdivision of the remainder of one lot into two lots.

During the hearing, a resident asked why the application had been sent for county review before the local board's discussion and whether findings or conditions from that night's meeting would require another referral.

The resident also questioned whether the proposed boundary adjustment and division would result in three lots. A third question concerned why the subdivision determination referred to the town's zoning chapter rather than its subdivision-of-land chapter.

The board's presiding member said the application had been sent to the county and that the county had no objections. After closing public comment, the board took roll-call votes and approved the application resolution.

The meeting did not include a detailed response to each of the resident's questions. No representative for the application responded when the board asked whether anyone was present to speak for it.

Town Board's budget work continues tonight

Tonight's meeting is a Town Board special session, not a continuation of the Planning Board hearing. Its agenda identifies a tentative budget work session as the main business.

The town's special-meeting notice says the sessions are intended to review and develop Walworth's 2027 budget. It lists Oct. 7, Oct. 8 and Oct. 14 as work-session dates, each beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Oct. 14 agenda also lists new and other business, an executive-session heading and any other business that may come before the board. Those agenda headings do not establish that a closed session will occur or that the budget will be adopted tonight.

The supplied agenda contains no proposed spending total, tax levy or tax rate. Residents can attend tonight's public work session at Town Hall as the board continues its budget review.
