Cornell women’s volleyball continued its perfect start in Ivy League competition Saturday night, sweeping Harvard at Newman Arena to extend its winning streak to five matches.
The Big Red improved to 9-5 overall and 5-0 in conference play with set victories of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-10. Cornell has now won 14 consecutive sets.
Cornell finished with 37 kills and a .269 hitting percentage while recording 10 service aces, 10 blocks and 40 digs. The Big Red also limited Harvard to a .050 hitting percentage, including just four kills in the final set.
Junior Mackenzie Parsons led the way with 14 kills, four service aces and four block assists, totaling 20 points. Ava Bogan added nine kills while hitting .571 and led Cornell with six blocks.
Setter Mary Wolcott contributed 31 assists, two service aces and six digs, helping guide an efficient offensive performance. Kiran Rio added four kills without an attack error, two aces and seven digs, while Trinidy Tien paced the defense with 11 digs. Sara Pomar chipped in nine digs and two service aces.
Cornell overcame an early deficit in the opening set before using a six-point run to take control. The Big Red carried that momentum into the second, hitting .406 with 14 kills and committing only one attack error.
The third set proved decisive as Cornell quickly built a six-point advantage and continued pulling away. The Big Red’s defense disrupted Harvard’s attack throughout the final stretch before Wolcott delivered a service ace to complete the sweep.
Cornell heads back on the road next weekend for two more Ivy League matchups. The Big Red visit Brown on Friday, October 16, before facing Yale on Saturday, October 17.
