Officers became involved around 10:41 p.m. after responding to Auburn Community Hospital for a reported assault. Investigators determined the incident had allegedly occurred earlier at the apartment complex.

Police said Williams demanded the victim’s car keys and refused to allow the person to leave the residence during a physical domestic dispute.

When the victim attempted to leave, Williams allegedly ripped the victim’s purse, pulled the person’s hair and punched them in the face.

The victim eventually left the apartment and drove to Auburn Community Hospital, where a third party contacted police, according to the department.

Officers later located Williams at the apartment and took him into custody.

Williams was charged with aggravated family offense, a Class E felony; second-degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both Class A misdemeanors; and second-degree harassment, a violation.

He was processed at Auburn Police Department headquarters before being taken for arraignment and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
