A person died after a stabbing at Ithaca Arthaus on Thursday evening, according to a news release from the Ithaca Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 130 Cherry St. at about 6 p.m. Sept. 24. They found the victim and provided emergency medical care alongside Bangs Ambulance and the Ithaca Fire Department, police said.
The victim was taken to a medical facility, where they died. Police have not released the person's name.
Police described the suspect as a Black man in his 40s wearing all-black clothing and carrying a black backpack. The department said the incident appeared isolated and it had no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
