The Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn will be closed to the public Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26, while staff prepare for and host the center's 45th-anniversary Sapphire Celebration.
The center will reopen at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27. Its regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The anniversary event will include presentation of the center's first Donna Lamb award to Jean and George Kerstetter for their service to the Schweinfurth, according to the center's announcement.
The Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, at 205 Genesee St., opened in 1981 through a bequest from Auburn-born architect Julius Schweinfurth. It hosts exhibitions and art education programs for children and adults.
