NYSEG’s long-delayed rate case remains unresolved as customers head toward another heating season under temporary rates, according to Tompkins Weekly.
The utility initially sought increases that would add $33.12 per month to a typical electric bill and $33.57 to a typical gas bill.
Temporary rates that began June 1 increased annual electric revenue 3.7% and gas revenue 0.5%, with total customer bills estimated to rise 0.2% for electricity and 1.7% for gas.
The case includes more than 10,300 transcript pages and about 1,200 exhibits, while confidential settlement talks have resumed.
State Sen. Lea Webb said constituents have reported unexplained bill spikes, including a small business bill near $25,000 and a household winter bill near $3,000.
