Investigators alleged Whitfield had sexual contact with a 16-year-old on Sept. 14.

Whitfield was transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he was processed and held pending centralized arraignment later that evening.

The Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division handled the case. The agency did not release additional information about the circumstances of the alleged offense.

The charge is an accusation. Whitfield is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
