Sennett man charged after threatening to blow up apartment building, deputies say

A Sennett man was charged after deputies said he threatened to blow up an apartment building and confronted another resident with a knife Monday.

Timothy King, 58, was arrested at Sennett Meadows Apartments and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree menacing and making a mass threat of harm, according to an Oct. 6 Cayuga County Sheriff's Office release.

Deputies were sent to the complex at about 8:35 a.m. after a report that King was upset and causing a disturbance.

While responding, they learned that he had threatened to blow up the building and had a knife, the Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators said an argument with another resident escalated before King retrieved a knife from his room, went to a different resident's door, kicked it and made verbal threats.

Deputies detained King and secured the knife when they arrived; the release did not report an explosive device or an injury.

King was processed at the Public Safety Building, arraigned in centralized arraignment court and held in the Cayuga County Jail without bail, according to the release.

He is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on Thursday. Anyone with information can contact the Sheriff's Office at 315-253-1222.
