Consumers are more willing to trust artificial intelligence for routine personal-care purchases than for products involving sensitive health or body concerns, a Harris Poll survey found.
The survey of 3,222 adults in the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil and India found 75% trusted AI recommendations for body wash, compared with 57% for menstrual-care products.
Seventy-nine percent said they would be uncomfortable if AI guessed a personal-care need they had not disclosed. More than four in 10 said it would feel invasive for AI to make assumptions about their body.
The poll also found 73% were concerned that AI recommendations could reinforce stereotypes involving gender, age, body or appearance.
