Anheuser-Busch will invest $13 million in its Baldwinsville brewery to meet consumer demand and support local manufacturing, Governor Kathy Hochul announced Thursday.

The company plans to use the investment for worker training and job creation at the Onondaga County plant, which Hochul described as New York's largest brewery and a source of employment for hundreds of people.

Hochul said the new training will focus on technical skills and support the company's next generation of workers. She credited Anheuser-Busch with maintaining a long-term presence in Central New York and investing in the region's workforce for more than 40 years.

The governor also highlighted previous environmental work at the facility, including solar arrays and a transition from natural gas to electric power. New York provided $1 million for an earlier electrification project, according to Hochul's remarks.

The announcement comes as state officials promote a broader manufacturing expansion in Central New York, including Micron's semiconductor project. Hochul said the region will need additional housing and infrastructure to support projected job growth.

Anheuser-Busch's Baldwinsville plant also produced a limited beer last winter using snow collected from Highmark Stadium after a major storm, an effort Hochul cited as an example of the brewery's connection to New York.
