The Penn Yan Village Board authorized the police chief to seek up to $125,000 for body cameras and unanimously adopted changes to downtown parking regulations at its July 21 meeting.
Police Chief Thomas Dunham said the proposed body-camera purchase would be structured as a five-year replacement contract. The board voted 7-0 to authorize submission of the law enforcement technology grant application.
Trustees also voted 7-0 to amend village parking rules covering the business district, nighttime parking and various time limits. No members of the public commented during a hearing on the changes, according to the meeting minutes.
The board authorized grant applications for two sewer projects: improvements to the village's sewer headworks and force main, and replacement of the Outlet Trail interceptor sewer. The applications will seek funding through the state Water Infrastructure Improvement program.
In other action, trustees accepted the Finger Lakes Tourism Building as a gift from the Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance and directed village attorneys to proceed with the transfer. The minutes did not provide a value or other terms for the property.
