Ontario County will break ground July 28 on a $24 million culinary arts center planned for the Canandaigua lakefront.
The 19,287-square-foot facility at 150 Lakeshore Drive will bring the Finger Lakes Community College Culinary Arts Program and New York Kitchen under one roof while providing programming offices for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County.
County officials expect the facility to become a year-round destination for culinary education in the Finger Lakes. Completion is anticipated in late summer 2027.
Funding is being provided by the State University of New York, the Sands Family Foundation, the Canandaigua Area Development Corporation and other project stakeholders, according to the county.
The ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled for 10 in the morning directly across from Kershaw Park. Architectural renderings will be displayed during the program.
Representatives from Ontario County, the State University of New York Board of Trustees, LeChase Construction, Finger Lakes Community College, New York Kitchen, Cornell Cooperative Extension, the city of Canandaigua, the Canandaigua Area Development Corporation and the Sands Family Foundation are expected to participate.
