The Yates County Sheriff's Office handled 5,277 law enforcement calls and made 946 traffic stops from April through June, according to its second-quarter statistics report. Deputies issued 404 vehicle and traffic tickets and recorded 3,756 total deputy contacts during the three-month period.
The report listed 27 arrests, including 13 DWI arrests, along with five cases categorized as drug possession, sale or overdose. Deputies also recorded 86 vehicle-deer calls, 21 personal-injury crashes, 48 property-damage crashes and one fatal crash.
County dispatchers handled 518 fire calls and 741 emergency medical calls during the quarter.
The jail had an average daily population of 33. The report listed 35 male admissions, five female admissions, 35 arraignments, 9,045 meals served and 154 medical examinations or case-management contacts by the jail nurse.
Animal control officers investigated 139 complaints and 20 animal-bite cases while driving 12,380 miles. The records division completed 363 Freedom of Information Law requests and received 12 new pistol permit applications; the report also listed 73 registered sex offenders in the county.
The civil division processed 78 Family Court summonses, served 158 legal papers and handled seven evictions.
