Seneca Meadows Inc. has submitted responses to 15 state questions involving its proposed landfill expansion in Seneca Falls, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation is reviewing the company’s revised environmental impact statement and permit applications.
DEC requested more information about groundwater risks, landfill settlement monitoring, traffic mitigation, recycling volumes and the facility’s leachate treatment system.
Regulators also said the company’s groundwater model should not guide design or permitting decisions and called its contamination contingency plan inadequate.
The proposed 47-acre upward expansion would extend the landfill’s operating life to 2040, but public hearings will not be scheduled unless DEC determines the application and environmental review are complete.
