Traffic pattern changes and lane shifts are scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. July 21 along Route 36 in Hornell and North Hornell, the state Department of Transportation said.
The changes will affect Route 36 between County Route 70 and Bethesda Drive and are expected to remain in place through the rest of the 2026 construction season. The shifts will accommodate a previously announced project, according to the department.
Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction is weather-dependent, and the schedule could change based on conditions.
The department urged motorists to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Speeding fines are doubled in work zones, and two or more work-zone speeding convictions could result in a driver's license suspension.
