A Camillus man was sentenced Friday to four years in state prison for possessing cocaine in Cayuga County, according to The Citizen.
Peter J. Day, 55, will also serve two years of post-release supervision and complete a court-ordered 90-day drug treatment program.
Authorities said Day possessed 6.8 grams of cocaine when the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in Fleming on Sept. 29.
Day pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after also being charged with two weapon possession counts involving a switchblade and metal knuckle knife.
Cayuga County Court Judge Steven Buschman, who attended high school with Day, acknowledged the veteran’s substance abuse and medical struggles while urging him to focus on his recovery.
