A Clyde man was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after a single-vehicle crash took down a telephone pole in Savannah, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Gracin Hilliard, 21, of Duncan Street in the village of Clyde, was arrested after a property damage crash at about 2:11 a.m. July 5 on West Church Street in Savannah.
Investigators said Hilliard was accused of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, causing the crash. He was not injured.
Deputies said Hilliard failed standardized field sobriety tests and was taken to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, where he was evaluated by a drug recognition expert.
Hilliard was charged with driving while intoxicated under common law, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, speed not reasonable and prudent, moving from lane unsafely and other vehicle and traffic offenses.
He was released on uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Savannah Town Court at a later date.
