The nightmare of Fromville is officially drawing to a close. Following a devastating and game-changing Season 4 finale, MGM+ has confirmed that its flagship horror-mystery series, From, has been renewed for a fifth and final season.
As the most-watched show in the history of MGM+, the series has spent years building a complex web of terror, teleportation portals, and nocturnal monsters. Now, the creative team is officially preparing the final chapter to resolve the overarching mystery once and for all.
When Will Season 5 Release?
While an exact premiere date has not yet been locked in by the network, industry reports confirm that From Season 5 is slated for a 2027 release window.
Production is scheduled to kick off later this year in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where cameras will roll on the expanded 13-episode final season. Show creators John Griffin, Jeff Pinkner, and Jack Bender released a joint statement expressing their excitement about bringing the narrative to its planned destination:
“We are wildly excited to announce that we’ve officially begun work on Season 5, which means we will get the chance to see our story to its conclusion. Which means questions will be answered. Answers will be questioned. And there will surely be a cascade of tears and terrors in between.”
Who Is Returning For the Cast?
The ensemble cast will see the return of its core survivors, led by Harold Perrineau as the town’s resilient sheriff, Boyd Stevens. Alongside Perrineau, main cast members Catalina Sandino Moreno (Tabitha), David Alpay (Jade), and Elizabeth Saunders (Donna) are all locked in to finish the journey.
However, the final season’s roster will look noticeably altered following the brutal casualties of the Season 4 finale. Notably, characters Mari and Elgin were killed off in separate encounters, meaning actors Kaelen Ohm and Nathan D. Simmons will likely only appear if the show utilizes flashbacks or visions. Meanwhile, Fatima’s horrifying visual transformation into one of the Creatures means her character’s presence will take on a fundamentally different, terrifying role moving forward.
What to Expect From the Final Story
According to executive producer Jack Bender, the ending of the series is not being made up on the fly. The creative team mapped out the trajectory of the town from the very first season. “A lot of seasons four and five are continuing those things we set up, many of which are obvious to the audience, and some of which are not,” Bender noted. “There are a lot of inevitabilities coming into season five.”
Storywise, Fromville is more vulnerable than it has ever been. The finale saw Sophia steal every single protective talisman and cast them into the Farway Tree, leaving the residents completely defenseless against the monsters that hunt after dark. Season 5 will have to deal with the immediate fallout of a town with no shields. Furthermore, Jade and Tabitha remain trapped beneath the Bottle Tree, and the creators have teased that the upcoming episodes will explore entirely new locations and further investigate the concept of “storywalking.”
Perrineau has previously hinted that fans who have been paying close attention will be rewarded. Many of the foundational clues have been hidden in plain sight since the pilot episode. When the final answers drop, they promise to recontextualize the entire series.
