Trumansburg schools are redesigning language classes to meet new state standards, according to Tompkins Weekly.
Teachers are updating Spanish and French instruction to emphasize real-world communication, cultural understanding and language fluency before New York’s 2028 implementation deadline. The revised standards also introduce new proficiency benchmarks and curriculum themes.
District educators say many of the changes are already underway. Five Trumansburg students also earned New York’s Seal of Biliteracy this year for demonstrating proficiency in English and a second language.
