A Lyons man already being held in the Wayne County Jail has been indicted on multiple felony charges alleging he raped a 12-year-old girl in Newark.
Robbin L. Knight-Collins, 38, was arrested on an indictment warrant issued by Wayne County Court, according to Newark Village Police. Investigators allege Knight-Collins befriended a 12-year-old girl in the village and sexually assaulted her.
Knight-Collins was charged with first-degree rape under New York’s forcible rape statute, first-degree rape involving a victim under the age of 13 and an actor over the age of 18, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said Knight-Collins was already incarcerated at the Wayne County Jail on a separate charge of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, when the indictment was issued.
Authorities said Knight-Collins has been arrested 16 times, including eight felony arrests and eight misdemeanor arrests. Police reported he has 10 convictions, six open cases and a prior conviction for attempted third-degree rape.
The case will proceed through Wayne County Court.
