A traffic stop in the Town of Rose early Saturday led to felony drunken driving charges against a Williamson man, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew Scott Williamson, 46, of Williamson, was arrested after deputies said he crossed over the center line and failed to keep right while driving. During the investigation, deputies determined he was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Authorities said Williamson failed standardized field sobriety tests and later provided a breath sample that measured his blood alcohol content at .13%. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, both with a previous conviction within the last 10 years, along with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and other vehicle and traffic violations.
Williamson was transported to the Wayne County Jail to await arraignment in CAP Court. He is scheduled to appear in Rose Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
