A Penn Yan man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after Yates County deputies executed a bench warrant tied to an alleged probation violation.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and court security officers arrested Russell J. Aliff, 38, at the Yates County Courthouse on Liberty Street in Penn Yan around 2:40 p.m.
According to authorities, the bench warrant was signed by Judge Jason Cook Stutzman in Yates County Court after Aliff allegedly violated the terms of his probation.
Aliff was transported to the Yates County Jail, where he remained in custody awaiting the next session of Yates County Court.
