Deer collision sends two people to hospital in Yates County crash

Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday evening after a vehicle struck a deer on State Route 54 in the Town of Milo, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

First responders were dispatched around 7:16 p.m. to the area near Plaisted Road for a reported one-car crash with injuries.

Investigators said 28-year-old Timothy Laws of North Chili was driving northbound on Route 54 when a deer entered the roadway from the west side and was struck by the vehicle.

Deputies said the crash resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to all three occupants inside the vehicle.

Laws and passenger William Gonzalez, 33, of North Chili, were transported to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital complaining of neck pain. A third occupant, Allison Laws, 26, of Geneva, was evaluated at the scene.

Penn Yan Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance also responded to the crash.
