Auburn man charged after violating order of protection from jail

A Cayuga County man already being held in jail is facing new felony and misdemeanor charges after investigators say he contacted a protected person in violation of an active order of protection.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office said 46-year-old Anthony Crawford, of Auburn, was arrested May 8 following an investigation into conduct that allegedly occurred while he was incarcerated at the Cayuga County Jail.

According to the sheriff’s office, Crawford was charged with aggravated family offense, a class E felony, and second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. Authorities allege Crawford violated an order of protection by contacting a protected party while in custody.

Crawford was arraigned in CAP Court and remains held at the Cayuga County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
