Canandaigua man charged with menacing after disturbance at Camelot Court

A Canandaigua man was arrested Tuesday after deputies said he displayed what appeared to be a handgun during a disturbance at Camelot Court, causing another person to fear injury.

Canandaigua police said Kyle Morphy, 41, of Canandaigua, was charged with second-degree menacing following the incident, which was reported around 2:26 p.m. May 5.

According to investigators, Morphy allegedly removed what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband and placed it on a desk while speaking with another person. Deputies said he then manipulated the weapon in a manner that caused a woman to fear she could be injured.

Authorities later determined the weapon was a less-than-lethal handgun.

Morphy was taken into custody and transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
