Rochester Regional Health is taking breast cancer screening on the road this month, with its mobile mammography center scheduled to make stops across the Finger Lakes and nearby communities through late May.
The health system says the screenings are free, no insurance is required, and both scheduled appointments and walk-ins are welcome at participating locations. The effort is designed to improve access to preventative care by bringing mammography services directly into local neighborhoods.
The mobile mammography center is scheduled to visit RRH Family & Lifestyle Medicine in Canandaigua on Tuesday, May 12 at 9 a.m.; RRH Lyons Health Center in Lyons on Thursday, May 14 at 9:30 a.m.; Ontario Public Library in Ontario on Wednesday, May 20 at 9 a.m.; RRH Williamson Family Practice in Williamson on Saturday, May 23 at 9:30 a.m.; and RRH Clifton Springs Internal Medicine in Clifton Springs on Tuesday, May 26 at 10 a.m.
Organizers say early detection remains one of the most effective tools in fighting breast cancer and hope the mobile unit helps reduce barriers for women who may not otherwise have easy access to screening services.
