A Lyons man was killed and another remains hospitalized after a two-motorcycle crash involving an SUV Sunday afternoon in Cayuga County, according to New York State Police.

Investigators said a 33-year-old Auburn woman driving a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling north on Centerport Road and stopped at the intersection before entering Route 31. Police said the driver failed to see two motorcycles traveling west with the right of way.

Both motorcycles struck the passenger side of the SUV, according to state police.

The motorcycle operators were airlifted to Upstate University Hospital with serious injuries. One of the riders, identified as 35-year-old Branden J. Paradise of Lyons, later died at the hospital.

The second rider, a 36-year-old Lyons man, remained hospitalized as of Monday night.

Police said an 18-year-old passenger in the Nissan was taken to Auburn Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

State police said the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators. Authorities said there was no indication that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
