Arcadia man charged with DWI after traffic stop in Palmyra

A Town of Arcadia man was arrested early Saturday after Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said he was driving intoxicated during a traffic stop in the Town of Palmyra.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped Joseph Lugo, 43, around 2:08 a.m. May 9 after allegedly observing him speeding. During the investigation, deputies determined Lugo was operating the vehicle while intoxicated, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities charged Lugo with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, and speeding.

Deputies said Lugo voluntarily submitted to a chemical test at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where his blood alcohol content was measured at .15%.

Lugo was held at the Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment and is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
