A long-running local tradition returns next month as the Falcon Sportsmen Club prepares to host its 72nd annual kids fish derby in Cayuga County.
The free event is scheduled for Sunday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the club grounds on Turnpike Road in Sennett.
Open to children 15 and under, the derby will feature prizes for the biggest fish, along with a full slate of family-friendly activities. Organizers say there will be food, drinks, games, and giveaways available throughout the day.
Participants are asked to bring their own fishing poles, though bait will be provided for children. The event is designed to be accessible, with no entry fee required.
Organizers note that certain restrictions will be in place, including no use of lures, grills, or large coolers on the grounds. Alcohol is also not permitted.
The Falcon Sportsmen Club’s annual derby has been a staple in the community for decades, drawing families from across the region for a day centered on outdoor recreation and youth engagement.
Additional information is available by phone for those planning to attend.
