Dundee man charged with drug-impaired driving after overnight crash in Yates County

A Dundee man is facing multiple charges after deputies said he crashed his vehicle and walked away from the scene early Thursday in the town of Potter.

Yates County Sheriff’s deputies responded to State Route 364 around 12:19 a.m. for a report of a single-vehicle crash and found the suspected driver walking away along the roadway.

Investigators said the vehicle had been traveling east when it struck a mailbox and an embankment. Deputies later located Justin M. Davis, 37, walking east on Route 364 and observed signs of impairment.

Davis was taken into custody and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, along with several traffic violations, including moving from a lane unsafely, driving over hazard markings, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failing to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change.

He was transported to the Yates County Jail, where he was held pending arraignment in CAP Court.
