Nearly six months after a Wayne County woman was found dead in her apartment, state police say the investigation remains active — and they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Cheryl Goodberlet, 66, was discovered deceased Nov. 5, 2025, inside her residence at Williamson Orchard Estates in the town of Williamson. Investigators determined early on that she was the victim of a violent attack.
Since then, New York State Police said investigators have conducted extensive interviews, gathered physical evidence, and developed multiple leads, but the case remains unsolved.
Authorities are now renewing their call for information, specifically asking anyone who had contact with Goodberlet or who was in or around Williamson Orchard Estates during the evening of Nov. 4 into the early morning hours of Nov. 5 to come forward.
Investigators said even seemingly minor details could prove critical as they continue to piece together what happened. They also indicated that some individuals may have direct knowledge of events surrounding the homicide but have not yet fully cooperated.
Police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that additional evidence continues to be reviewed.
Anyone with information is asked to contact New York State Police at 585-398-4100 or submit tips by email. Information can be provided confidentially.
