Cornell women’s track and field delivers top shot put finishes at Penn Relays

The Cornell women’s outdoor track and field team continued competition at the Penn Relays on Friday in Philadelphia, highlighted by a pair of standout performances in the shot put at Franklin Field. Cornell turned in a strong showing against a deep national field, with multiple athletes delivering personal-best marks.

The Big Red were led by Nicole Loy, who earned a third-place finish with a throw of 14.69 meters, moving into fourth place on the program’s all-time list. Claire Springer followed closely behind, placing sixth with a mark of 14.22 meters, which improved her standing to ninth in school history. Both athletes recorded outdoor personal bests while competing in one of the meet’s most competitive fields.

On the track, the 4×100-meter relay team of Divine Bamgboye, Brianna Beckham, Natasha Redmond, and Olivia Walters posted a time of 45.29 seconds to finish 13th in the Championship of America race. Bamgboye also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, placing 18th in 13.78, while Arianna Allen finished 24th in 13.94.

In the 4×400-meter relay, Rachel Bethke, Eden Oje, Elika Vahhaji, and Elise Sawyer combined for a time of 3:41.51, finishing 19th. Lauren Smith added a 24th-place showing in the javelin with a throw of 35.63 meters to round out the field events.
