Cornell men’s track and field posts strong shot put finishes at Penn Relays

The Cornell men’s outdoor track and field team continued competition at the Penn Relays on Friday in Philadelphia, highlighted by a pair of top-five finishes in the shot put at Franklin Field. Cornell built on its opening-day momentum with another solid showing against elite national competition.

The Big Red were led by senior Joe Seib, who placed third in the shot put with a mark of 17.51 meters. Teammate Noah Harman followed with a fifth-place finish, recording a throw of 17.28 meters to give the Big Red two strong finishes in the event. Seib rebounded after an early foul to deliver consistent throws, while Harman narrowly missed a personal outdoor best.

Seib also competed in the discus earlier in the day, placing 19th with a throw of 48.27 meters. In the javelin, Joe Rachiele matched that placement, finishing 19th with a mark of 55.09 meters.

On the track, Cornell’s 4×100-meter relay team of Garrett Brennan, Ricardo Lagares Jr., Ryder King, and Panashe Nhenga competed in the Championship of America race, posting a time of 40.89 seconds to place 19th against a deep field.

Cornell will wrap up competition at the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 25 at Franklin Field.
