The Cornell Big Red men’s golf team opened play at the Ivy League Championship on Friday with a team score of 316 (+28), placing seventh after the first round at Baltusrol Golf Club’s Lower Course in Springfield, New Jersey. Competing in a seven-team field, Cornell trails early leader Harvard, which posted a 286 (-2) through 18 holes.
Cornell was led by senior Weston Warden and sophomore TJ Betlow, who each carded rounds of 76 (+4) to sit tied for 14th individually. Betlow highlighted his round with four birdies, including three on the front nine, while Warden added three birdies of his own to anchor the lineup.
Freshman Adithya Venkataraghavan and junior Tyler Debusschere each finished with rounds of 82 (+10), placing them in a tie for 32nd.
