A Finger Lakes-based storytelling project is heading to national audiences after securing a streaming deal that will spotlight life around Keuka Lake.
FAST TV Network announced a partnership with Keuka Roots to produce a new original series, Keuka Roots: Small Towns. Big Stories., with production scheduled to begin this summer.
Filming will take place throughout the Keuka Lake region from summer into mid-fall, capturing a wide range of stories tied to the area’s history, culture and everyday life. The series is expected to feature everything from generational farms and vineyards to small businesses, artisans and local traditions.
Network officials said the project is designed to bring regional storytelling to a broader audience through free, ad-supported streaming platforms, including Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
The series will combine documentary-style storytelling with travel and human-interest elements, offering an immersive look at communities surrounding Keuka Lake, including Hammondsport, Penn Yan and nearby towns.
FAST TV executives said the appeal of the project lies in its focus on authenticity and community-driven narratives, positioning it as part of a growing demand for place-based storytelling that resonates beyond local audiences.
Keuka Roots, which began as a regional multimedia storytelling initiative, has expanded its reach through blogs, events and creative projects focused on preserving and sharing the character of the Finger Lakes.
Producers say the first season is intended not only to document life in the region, but also to elevate its visibility on a national stage while maintaining the authenticity that defines it.
The series will be distributed through FAST TV Network’s platform, which delivers content without subscription fees to viewers across connected TV services.
