Yoshida earns Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors

Cornell freshman Ross Yoshida turned a dominant week out of the bullpen into conference recognition, earning Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors.

The right-hander delivered 6.1 scoreless innings across two appearances, including a standout outing against Yale that secured his first collegiate victory.

Yoshida struck out six batters while allowing no hits over 5.1 innings against the Bulldogs, retiring the final 11 hitters he faced and showcasing the kind of control that has quickly made him a key contributor.

For the week, opponents hit just .056 against him, as he retired 19 of 22 batters and ranked among the top Division I pitchers in multiple statistical categories.

The performance marked a significant early milestone for the freshman as Cornell continues its Ivy League schedule.
