A day of golf, fundraising, and conservation-focused programming is set for June 15 as the Montezuma Audubon Center hosts its annual benefit at Wayne Hills Country Club.
The event will support ongoing conservation work at the Montezuma Wetlands Complex, Onondaga Lake, and other key bird habitats across the Finger Lakes region, with organizers aiming to raise funds for projects tied to habitat protection and restoration.
Participants will take part in an 18-hole Captain and Crew tournament, with the day also featuring lunch, a cocktail reception, raffles, and a dinner and awards ceremony. Organizers say the event is designed to appeal to both golfers and non-golfers, with options to attend just the evening reception.
Montezuma Audubon Center Director Chris Lajewski said the organization’s work is focused on addressing long-term environmental challenges while supporting bird populations that serve as indicators of ecosystem health. He noted that proceeds from the event will help expand efforts aimed at reversing bird population declines across the Americas.
The benefit will begin with check-in at 10:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. A cocktail reception, including raffles and fundraising activities, is scheduled for 4 p.m., with dinner and awards to follow at 5 p.m.
Registration options include $120 per golfer or $460 per foursome for the full tournament, with reduced pricing available for lunch-only participation or evening-only attendance. An online auction tied to the event will run from June 1 through June 16 and will feature items such as birding tours, outdoor excursions, artwork, and local experiences.
Organizers are also seeking sponsors and community support to help expand conservation efforts tied to the event.
